At Kurtz Bros, Inc. we produce the finest topsoil, mulch, and compost for beautiful yards and gardens. Our season starts in the Spring and runs through the Summer, and we can offer flexible schedules to all employees!  Our teams have fun whether they are participating in our monthly contests or enjoying free food during our employee/customer appreciation events.  

We offer a variety of positions for all different skillsets – Customer Service Reps, Yard Associates, Heavy Equipment Operators, Dump Truck Drivers (no CDL required!).

 We are looking for a seasonal full-time truck driver to join our team! Drivers must be able to work OT and weekends during our busy season.  GREAT JOB FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS, RETIREES or anyone looking for a SUMMER JOB! 

                                                              
Responsibilities

  • Safely transport materials driving a single axle truck to retail customers and construction/landscape sites
  • Provide a positive experience for the customer by being helpful, courteous, and professional
  • Inspect material when loading to be sure it is suitable for delivery
  • Perform truck inspections daily. Complete pre and post trip inspections, and maintain drivers logs
  • Obtain customer waiver if applicable before entering the property
  • Answer any questions customers may have regarding product application or use
  • When not driving; work in the yard, clean the store, service customers
  • Incumbent will be required to drive, sit, stand, lift, kneel, bend, type, use personal computer, telephone, and two way radio
  • Local travel to other KB sites, retail customers, and construction sites will be required on a frequent basis
  • Exposure to loud noises, hot/cold temperatures, dust, and other environmental factors
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years old with a valid driver license and excellent driving record
  • Basic computing knowledge
  • Friendly, positive, and willing to be of service to others
  • Able to quickly develop a working knowledge of Kurtz Bros., Inc. processes and products
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Drive in compliance with all state and federal laws
Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Drive an enclosed truck on a daily basis.
  • Work outdoors while loading and unloading goods. Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork. Indoor temperatures may not be controlled.
  • Are often exposed to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust.
  • Wear protective or safety attire on a weekly basis.
  • Sometimes are exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures while working outside.
  • May have to get into cramped positions to reach work spaces, such as the back of a truck.
  • Sometimes exposed to hazardous situations that might produce minor cuts or scrapes.
  • Occasionally exposed to bright or dim lighting conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to whole body vibration when driving a truck.
  • May deal with sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Work close to others, especially when unloading trucks.
  • The employee may lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
